LGA Productivity Expert Programme

This City Council was considering a number of commercial activities based on current service provision. The needed to better understand which had the most commercial potential.

Challenge

Having identified some potential commercial opportunities - including some capabilities developed for in-house use - this Council wanted to investigate the wider commercial potential. As part of the LGA Productivity Expert programme, we were briefed to examine each of these and advise on how to identify the most cost-effective and commercially promising.


Value

CGT Consulting were able to help this City Council to prioritise their commercial activities - not just in terms of revenue generating potential, but also in relation to their ability to deliver. One particular service proposition that was seen as a major opportunity (before any robust analysis had taken place) was proved to be unviable in terms of market potential and operational capability/capacity. Highlighting this saved the Council a significant amount of time and human resources that they had planned to invest in developing a commercial model.
